Can you paint / refinish a bathtub?

My bathtub is this hiddeous yellow from the 70s. There is nothing wrong with it except the color. I hate to go through all the trouble to install a new one because I am sick of trying to coordinate the rest of the bathroom with the yellow tub and toilet. Is there a way I can paint the tub or strip the color off to refinish it? Toilets are inexpensive so I am not worried about replacing that.

An old bath tubs bought one of the refinishing paint for ceramic and fiberglass bath tubs bought 1927 house and fiberglass bath tub in bad shape wanted to maintain the character of the refinishing paint for ceramic and painted.

I had my tub and the tile around my shower professionally refinished. It was expensive, but worth it because the tub was an old porcelain one. It now looks brand new. The process only took 2 days, as opposed to the longer process of tearing out the tub, setting a new one, and retiling everything.
The company was Miracle Tub, or Miracle Finish, or something like that. Plus, they use less offensive chemicals than other companies, so there wasn’t such a bad odor during the process.
