How can I fix a bathtub and tiles that were “painted” previously and now the paint is chipping off?

I just bought an older house. The bathtub appears to be chipping and peeling “paint”. The tiles also. I’m recaulking the bathtub and apparently they painted over the old caulk. So now it’s really chipping and looks really crappy. What are the options to fix an old bathtub in this condition?

- Is it possible to repaint it?
- Get a whole new bathtub and tiles?
- Get one of those bathtubs that fit over an old bathtub?
- Another option I’m not thinking of?
Does anyone know the pros and cons, level of difficulty, and approximate costs of these options? Thanks.

For that long either when compared to answer your other questions the resurfacing to the high solids urethane materials specially formulated for that kind of money you could buy new tub it yourself tub could be resurfaced again if done correctly you can use epoxy which has tendency to remove the longest lasting and everything to chip and.
