How do i refinish(seal multiple hairline cracks) in fiberglass bathtub?
April 9th, 2008 | by admin |cvups8989 asked:
I have a leaking bathtub that needs fixing and I need some help!! I not too much of a plumber. I have located one leak right near the drain, but all the flooring underneath is wet. Which leads me too suspect there are more minor leaks. The floor of the tub is spider cracking in several areas. How do i re-seal the entire floor of the tub and what products are recommended. THANKS!

My suggestion is to continue to the cracks at lowes or it will not last lifetime the cracks are going to plan but if you will have to go to do if you.

that spider crack ” could be a sign of something not level” apply force toward the tub of away from the tub around the center of the spider. So it could be one end not level and the force is greatest at the center, result in the spider cracks. I’d just buy a tub and have a pro put it in and instruct them to pay extra attention to making sure it is level.
After all, the idea behind them is to distribute weight evenly so you should not have a spider crack - regular crack with age but spider sounds like force to me.

You can patch it up all you want, all those cracks are going to get bigger and bigger. Spend your money wisely and buy another tub……

There are outfits that will come in and fix and recoat complete tub so it will look good . I can’t say price in your area but it is less than fitters or new tube .
I had mine done $200.00
But if your drain is leaking also I’d have it checked first.
